Ward Service Auto Repair in Monrovia is fantastic. They provided me with a very timely second opinion and perspective regarding my dealership's recommendation to replace some engine mounts. They gave me their expert opinion and some helpful information which I needed to give me some peace of mind. I learned that if I get my car serviced there, they offer a warranty that is three times what my dealership offers. In this case, I will be back. -Linda B.
The absolute best place in Monrovia to take your vehicle to for general maintenance, oil changes and over all car care! Jim Ward and his crew are excellent at taking care of their customers! I recommend this place to anyone with any and all types of cars for preventative and general maintenance! Great job to Ward Service Auto Repair! -Danny F.
Lately, I'd been having a problem with my 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser GT Turbo; it was idling really rough, almost vibrating, when I'd start it up, and if I turned the air conditioning on, it got worse.
I spoke to my dentist, who is an avid car enthusiast and perfectionist; he has a Corvette, which is just gorgeous. He told me about Ward Service, in Monrovia. The next day, I called them and made an appointment for a Friday morning. I explained the problem and Jim Ward, the owner, said he would take a look at it.
Jim called me that afternoon and said that he'd checked the timing belt and it was fine, but had found a couple of engine mounts that were shot. He replaced the mounts and called me again, saying that the car was running a little better, but still not 100%. He said the other mounts seemed to be okay, and changing them out would be horrendously expensive, and doubted that there would be that much improvement.
He called me a second time and said that he wanted to drive the car to my house so I could drive it and see what I thought. This, to me, was the epitome of great customer service. I drove it and it had improved 95% in my opinion not 100%, but livable.
I picked my car up this morning, washed and shiny, and it drives like a dream. The bill was under $1000, which saved me from having to buy a new vehicle. Ward Service is my new go-to mechanic! -Marilyn C.
Jim Ward and his crew at Ward Service Auto Repair are the best, they are the most honest group of mechanics I have ever dealt with. Even, when an emergency problem arises, they jump in head first and get the job done right the first time. -Valued Customer Review.
I chose to do business with Ward Service based on their location in Monrovia and the good reviews. They have a person to drive you home or pick you up so I figured I'd give them a try.
As a mechanic's daughter, I was very impressed with the explanations they gave of the service details on my car. I dealt with Jim Ward who gave me straightforward and honest answers. I came in with a laundry list of items, and rather than seeing dollar signs, they prioritized which items jeopardized safety and which were less important. This allowed me to choose what repairs to do after I knew the pricing. In fact, his first question was if I wanted to trash the car instead of fix it, which would mean he wouldn't get any money from me at all.
I had heard lots of noise when turning, and was missing both boots. After talking with my dad on the phone, I asked Jim to replace both axles, because evidently the labor to replace a boot is about the same to replace an axle, and the CV joint noise was coming from one or both axles. Jim mentioned that in his experience, generally just the curbside CV joints go bad, so he'd replace that one and only check the other one. If it were bad, he would replace both; otherwise he would save me money on the parts and just replace the boot. He checked it out and decided it was ok, and replaced only one axle and one boot.
When they hand you the bill, they go through each item and explain what the problem was, what they found wrong, and how they fixed it. After I got the car back I still heard CV joint noise, although a bit quieter. The other repairs worked great. The day after I got the car back, they called to see if I was happy with the service! Wow. I mentioned I could still hear the clicking sound. He took it for a test drive and looked at it, confirmed the CV joint was bad since I had paid for the boot labor, he didn't charge labor for replacing the axle! While he was installing the new axle, he also noticed that my brake pad was installed wrong, and that a one spring aligning it was broken with another missing, and fixed that for free too. I am planning to be a return customer and recommend Ward’s to everyone I know. –Valued Customer Review.
The mechanics at Ward Service are polite, comptetent, candid, and patient. They won't try to sell you a new starter when all your car needs is solenoid contacts. If the job doesn't need to be done right now, they will tell you that, too. The prices are not cheap but are very reasonable because you get what you pay for, and you get a good value. This auto repair shop has a good reputation. A few knowledgeable friends of mine highly recommended Ward's to me. My two experiences at Ward's has proven my friends' recommendations were sound. Customer Review.
Let me start by saying that my husband and I love cars. He has owned easily twenty different vehicles in the last 10 years of every make and model from brands like BMW, Audi, Jeep, Cadillac, and Lexus. For this reason I feel that we are able to speak with confidence about experiences we have had with dealerships, repair and service.
Every time I call Wards Service I am greeted with a kind voice genuinely wanting to know the issue with my car. After only having it serviced one time at Ward's they already knew who I was when I called for my second repair. When I pull into their garage someone is always there to greet me by my first name and take my keys. There is never a long line going down the street like I've experienced at Lexus Dealerships. The cost for repair or maintenance is definitely fair and reasonable if not cheap compared to the other places we have had our numerous cars serviced at. I have two young children and the Ward's repair men have assisted me in getting my car home if I am unable to pick it up with my husband or have no extra car seats available to use their shuttle. We absolutely love Ward service and have already recommended them to all of our friends and family. They are the BEST! If you want fast, nice, and affordable service you should choose Ward Service Auto Repair in Monrovia. We never go anywhere else now! -Terri and Eric
Even though Monrovia is not the most convenient place for me when I need to get my cars serviced, I do not mind traveling to Ward Service Auto Repair. I know when I take my car in, I am not going to be ripped off, I am not going to be told I need work that I do not need, and I know the work they do will be top notch.
I once took my son's Dodge to a dealer for recall work and they told me I also needed brakes on all four wheels. Not only did Wards do the work for half the cost the dealer quoted me for, but they told me the front brakes did NOT need to be replaced at this time. I highly recommend Ward's Service, especially if you are not in the immediate area. -Ria C.
